Who needs this qualification?
The AoFAQ Level 2 National Award in Safeguarding Children and Young People is suitable for those who come into contact with children as part of their working role including voluntary work and those who work with children on a daily basis e.g. teachers, dental staff, nursery nurses, child-minders, foster carers, teaching assistants, admin staff etc.
Why is this training important?
The course is designed around legislation and guidance from various departments of Her Majesty’s Government including the Working Together to Safeguard Children: a guide to inter-agency working to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, what to do if you are worried about a child being abused and the All Wales Child Protection Procedure Documents.
- Understand the role of safeguarding children and young people in England and Wales.
- Understand the different types of abuse and how to recognise them.
- Understand the key principles of legislation which protects children and young people in England and Wales.
- Understand the process of reporting suspected child abuse.
